PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
“Shred the Word” – Identity Theft Prevention Event
The Flagler Beach Police Department is proud to partner with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate/Synergy and Home Bridge Financial Services on a community policing initiative designed to prevent identity theft.
“Shred the Word” is a free community event scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2017, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., in the Publix Plaza at the northwest corner of SR100 and Roberts Road in Flagler Beach, Florida.
“Shred the Word” affords the public the opportunity to bring personal information (financial documents, receipts, bank statements, etc.) on paper or computer disc, and have them shredded for free. A mobile shredding machine has been secured by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate/Synergy and Home Bridge Financial Services. Members of the public may actually watch their personal information being shredded.
“Identity theft is a crime that has evolved with the increase in technology. Those who have been victimized have had to endure major hardships to recover their identity and their credit. This event is designed for people to dispose of personal information locally, securely, and at no cost,” said Police Chief Matt Doughney. “By partnering with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate/Synergy and Home Bridge Financial Services, the Police Department can provide a quality event for free. This initiative is a collaboration designed to help prevent identity theft in our community.”
If you have any questions regarding the upcoming “Shred the Word” event, please feel free to contact Chief Doughney at (386) 517-2023.
