CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER work is law enforcement and public safety work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances in the Flagler Beach Police Department. Tasks involve the intermittent performance of extremely physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, running, climbing, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of extremely heavy objects (150+ pounds). Tasks may involve standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.

** This position requires the ability to work any shift including nights, weekends and holidays **

REQUIREMENTS

1). Candidate must be at least 20 years of age (no maximum age limit). Valid birth certificate must be supplied. Documentation of any name change(s) must be provided.

2). Candidate must be a United States citizen. If naturalized, a copy of the naturalization papers must be provided.

3). Candidate must never have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving perjury or false statements.

4). Candidate must have a valid high school diploma or equivalent.

5). Candidate must possess a Social Security Card.

6). If candidate has been in the military, must not have been discharged under other than honorable conditions. A copy of the DD-214 is required and will be verified.

7). Candidate must have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician. Medical exam and 7-panel drug screening will be required.

8). Candidate must posses a valid Driver's License with current address.

Applicants who qualify will be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not be limited to evaluation of training and experience; written test; interview; polygraph examination; psychological evaluation; employment record, fingerprint and background check; medical examination; and drug screen. The expected duration of the selection process varies by position and could last 8 to 10 weeks. Reapplication will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
