The Flagler Beach Police Department has two certified bicycle officers that ride Gary Fisher mountain bikes. Their primary mission is patrolling the downtown area, concentrating on the city pier, the board walk along the Atlantic Ocean and Flagship Park on the Intracoastal Waterway. The bicycle unit has proven invaluable during special events like the July 4th celebration, where over 50,000 people crowd into the city for a daylong celebration and to view the fireworks display.

 The bike patrol generally goes where patrol vehicles cannot, but they also perform traffic duties. Arrests range from open containers to drug cases. They are most active March through November.

Along with their official duties, the bicycle officers participate in several charity rides during the year, including the Rotary Scenic Highway Tour, Volusia and Flagler Special Olympics Torch Run, and the Tour de Force Ride for Remembrance from North Miami Beach to Daytona Beach Shores, a 286 mile ride.

In the near future, an ATV will be added to the bike unit to patrol the beach.
