WHAT IS A VICTIM ADVOCATE?

Victim Advocates are professionals trained to provide assistance and support to victims/witnesses of all types of crime.  Advocates are liaisons between crime victims and the criminal justice system.  They provide emotional support, resources and referrals, help filling out paperwork, and support victims’ decision-making.  Advocates provide information about different options available and assist with finding services you might not know about.

Filing a police report is not required to speak to a Victim Advocate

All FBPD Victim Advocates are Certified Advocates by the National Advocate Credentialing Program and designated Victim Service Practitioners by the Florida Attorney General’s Office.
